Boots on the ground have been putting in off-season work to make improvements that span coast to coast. The Good Stuff lives everywhere you want to be.
STEAMBOAT
23/24 is the culmination of the most extensive destination redevelopment ever seen. This 3-year, $220+ million-dollar project will close by adding 655 acres of expert terrain. This expanded footprint places Steamboat as the 2nd largest ski resort in Colorado. To supplement this new terrain, Steamboat will open the upper section of Wild Blue Gondola, the fastest and longest 10-person gondola in North America.
COPPER MOUNTAIN
Ringing in the 23/24 season, Copper Mountain has set the stage for its single most significant resort investment in over a decade, and every bit of it is focused on enhancing the guest experience. At mid-mountain, be sure to drop in on Aerie, Copper’s new dining lodge that will feature something for everyone. On the ground, ease into your days with updated parking and transportation systems, allowing for smoother traffic and expanded parking options.
DOLOMITI
Italian superstar, Dolomiti will see several updates this season, including two new lifts and updated snowmaking capabilities. Starting with the main gondola in the PLOSE ski area, a fresh 10-passenger winter/summer gondola will begin turning, vastly increasing ride capacity while easing congestion throughout the area. In the CIVETTA area, a brand new 4-person chairlift will upgrade the aging Delle Coste lift, providing a quicker and more comfortable access point to multiple terrain areas.
BIG SKY
At Big Sky, the replacement of the Lone Peak Tram has been long-awaited after its 25 years of operation. The new, larger, faster, quieter, and more comfortable Tram will reimagine the Lone Peak experience, increasing access to the terrain for more skiers and riders and unlocking the transformative views for scenic riders. The new Lone Peak tram has been under construction since summer 2022 and is set to open for the winter 23/24 season.
MAMMOTH MOUNTAIN
New and ready for you, Mammoth is opening a new, state-of-the-art 6-pack lift at the base of Canyon Lodge. This fresh ride will replace the previous 4-pack that dated back to 1996. Packed with all the latest, safest technology, the updated 6-pack provides up to 25% more uphill capacity and features enclosed top and bottom terminals, allowing chairs to be parked out of the storm cycles and helping to ensure on-time openings on bluebird powder days.
SOLITUDE
Replacing the original 1989 Eagle Express, a new 6-person lift will decrease congestion throughout the mountain while improving wait times. Additionally, across Fantasy Ridge’s famed terrain, new remote avy control systems will allow for non-manual mitigation that will open more terrain sooner without compromising safety.
WEST
Big Bear Mountain Resort will bring mountain-wide updates, including a more extensive, improved deck and remodels to several food and service facilities. Learn More.
Long awaited and highly anticipated, Mt. Bachelor will bring its Skyliner Express back online in December of 2023.
Sun Valley has continued work on Warm Springs Enhancement at one of Idaho’s brightest. This rollout will increase mountain flow, reduce crowding and lift lines, and improve the overall mountain experience.
ROCKIES
At Alta, new remote-triggered avalanche control on Mt Baldy will be operational for the 23/24 season, opening more terrain sooner after storm cycles. This winter will also welcome completed terrain work located off the Supreme lift.
Brighton likes to go big, and this season is no different. 23/24 will see a new six-person lift that replaces the aging Crest Express. In addition, this Utah staple will open the doors of their modern mid-mountain-industrial Snake Creek Lodge.
Grooming, service, and style are all synonymous with Deer Valley Resort. Winter 23/24 will focus heavily on improved snowmaking, grooming, ski rental equipment, food & beverage offerings, and building amenities.
At Colorado’s playground, Winter Park is revamping its Pioneer Express Lift from 4-chairs to 6. With an increased uphill capacity, this lift will also include a new mid-station at the Pioneer Express Trail and Big Valley intersection, eliminating the need to ski all the way to the bottom terminal.
EAST
At Killington Resort, significant investments have been made in snowmaking and grooming throughout the entire mountain. And, if you find yourself at The Beast, be sure to stop in and enjoy the newly opened K-1 Lodge.
Loon Mountain is coming through with a three-fold improvement that includes a brand-new quad chairlift, 50% more beginner terrain, and an additional 30+ acres of new territory to explore.
Next door, Pico Mountain is welcoming another major investment in snowmaking. All told, Pico will now be able to run more guns simultaneously than ever before. Guests will notice this extra capacity, especially on the coldest days when snow output will be maximized across the mountain.
Across Stratton’s major lifts, new RFID gates will ease access and reduce congestion. Additionally, a reimagined Learning Zone is in the works for new riders to the scene, including new covered carpets and regraded slopes for progressive learning.
At Snowshoe, be on the lookout for the first new chairlift since 2006. The updated Powder Monkey will increase uphill capacity, ease congestion in the Basin area, and improve access to the Western Territory.
With a focus on Mt. Ellen, Sugarbush has invested heavily in its snowmaking infrastructure, including Northstar, Inverness, and Summit Quad terrain areas. On the facilities side, Sugarbush continues substantial work on lodge and facilities improvements.
As part of the Sugarloaf 2030 plan, a new West Mountain expansion will add 120 pristine acres and benefit from lift upgrades, including the new Bucksaw Express high-speed Quad. All supported by game-changing advancements in snowmaking systems, Sugarloaf stoke is at an all-time high.
At Sunday River, Barker 6 – the fastest 6-person chairlift in North America – will start spinning while featuring unparalleled comfort, speed, and reliable access to some of Sunday River’s most beloved terrain. Additional improvements include adding a second triple chair to the Merill Hill neighborhood and snowmaking improvements to provide guests with an unprecedented early-season skiing experience.
Renovations are the name of the game at Windham Mountain this year. With a mid-mountain lodge overhaul, base lodge updates, updated and automated snowmaking tech, and refurbished lift mechanics, there’s plenty of Good Stuff to be found at New York’s favorite mountain.
MIDWEST
Two lift upgrades will usher in winter at Boyne Mountain this year. A new beginner carpet with a bubble is paired with these lift enhancements, allowing for a complete reset of the Go Zone learning area.
This winter, The Highlands Harbor Springs will start turning its new six-person bubble chairlift, Camelot-6, allowing for quicker access to a variety of scenic and popular terrain.
CANADA
Blue Mountain has committed to multi-year snowmaking upgrades that start in 23/24. With greater snowmaking density and efficiency, Blue Mountain will extend its winter offerings while significantly reducing on-mountain prep time.
Panorama Mountain Resort is rolling out substantial investments for winter 23/24. These include a focus on expanded terrain, snowmaking and grooming, lodging and restaurant renovations, and new technology implementations that include RFID direct-to-lift access.
Come, stay, and play. That’s the vibe this season at RED Mountain Resort after last year’s sell-out successes and extensive additions across condo and lodging offerings at its base this year.
23/24 will see a focus on bringing more beginners and intermediates at Revelstoke Mountain Resort, where guests can expect an increase in progressive terrain in the Ripper and Stellar Zones, a new surface learning carpet, and a new Mountain Sports School.
At Sun Peaks Resort, work will begin on a brand-new, high-speed, detachable quad chairlift set to open in the alpine for winter 24/25. This West Bowl Express will provide enhanced access to the West Bowl on Mt. Tod, an area of the resort known for quality snow and scenic vistas.
Tremblant is bringing the integration of RFID technology to the 23/24 season. With direct-to-lift access at all lifts, this upgrade will ease lift crowding, increase overall mountain flow, and streamline the arrival process.
FURTHER ABROAD
Kitzbühel in Austria will welcome winter with the addition of 2 lift replacements, F6 Gauxjoch and F7 Trattenbach. These updates will both ease skier crowding and also contribute to the long-term sustainable goals that KitzSki is working hard to achieve.
Voted Australia’s Best Ski Resort for six years in a row, Thredbo will unveil its newest Ski Lift – Freddie’s Snowrunner. Supporting a new Kids’ Learning area, this brand-new lift will help grow snow sports Down Under for years to come.
From east to west, north to south, through Europe and beyond, the 23/24 season is one filled with big improvements and bigger stoke.
