Mammoth Opens for the 26/27 Winter Season

The wait is over.

Mammoth Mountain officially kicked off the 26/27 winter season this morning, eight days ahead of their originally planned opening day. Mammoth welcomed guests at 7:30am to enjoy complimentary coffee and cocoa, with the first 100 people in the lift line receiving a free 26/27 Mammoth Beanie (a 10+ year tradition). At 8:30am, lifts started running, marking the first Ikon Pass destination in California to open this winter.

A major snowstorm over the weekend dropped 9″ of snow at the Main Lodge and 15″ at the summit. The fresh powder combined with Mammoth’s snow guns and hard-working crew gave them the push they needed to open early, and welcome hundreds of skiers and riders eager to get the season going.

What’s Happening at Mammoth for the 26-27 Ski Season

Opening day is only the beginning. Here’s what’s ahead at Mammoth this season:

• Unbound turns 30: This winter it marks 30 years with 10 parks, two halfpipes, more than 100 jibs and 40+ jumps across 100+ acres. Watch for anniversary merch, special activations and new features throughout the season.
• Unbound Series Rail Jam Nov 29: The first Unbound event of the season is open to all ages and abilities. Come ride, or come watch.
• Holiday Tree Lighting in The Village Nov 27: Kick off the holidays with Woolly and Santa as The Village lights up for the season.
• Kids Ski Free Week Dec 5–11: Kids 12 and under ski free all week with a free daily lift ticket.
• Night of Lights Dec 12: Free fireworks at Canyon Lodge, plus fire pits, live music and snowmobile rides. It’s one of the best nights of early season.
• U.S. Alpine Championships Mar 31–Apr 7: The Toyota U.S. Alpine Championships return to Mammoth for the first time since 2005. Catch the country’s fastest skiers racing on home snow.
